The huts are connected to a larger hut for meetings in the center of the island. The clubhouse is located in the middle of the island and looks over everything, the eye of Dragon's Edge. It serves a similar purpose to the Great Hall on Berk as an important place on the island where the Riders can gather together. There is a stone look-out tower beside it and a gigantic telescope to spot objects over the horizon. It connects to a short cavern that also leads outside.

There is a beautiful three-story stable with holes to let light through, creating a unique atmosphere unlike any other building on Berk. The stables are able to hold all the riders' dragons and a few more captive dragons.

There is also a giant dragon training arena with a closing dome to contain wild dragons. The gang uses it to train their dragons and conduct drills and practices, such as Beat the Dome. Caverns from the coastline lead through the ground up to a crack in the arena floor. The Riders use it as an alternate entrance to the arena, and have it boarded up when not needed.

The beach itself is peculiar in that, rather than being covered in sand, it is composed primarily of what appears to be pebbles. As a result, making contact with the ground on the island of the Dragons' Nest amplifies sound rather than muffling it as would be the case with normal sand, often tipping off the inhabitants of the island to any intruders.

Caldera Cay is an island with a dormant volcano at its center. The volcano is dormant because of the actions of the Eruptodon dragon, who eats lava and magma. Possibly because of the rich soil base from volcanic ash and rock, the island is lush with vegetation. There are many stone structures on the island, built by the Defenders of the Wing.

"Situated under the shadow of a dormant volcano, Caldera Cay serves as the headquarters — and a place of worship — for the dragon-revering Defenders of the Wing. As with most islands, Caldera Cay still exists due to the delicate balance achieved by its geothermal activity and the dragon the Defenders exalt above all others: The Eruptodon!"

It is the only place where a Loki Tree can be found and it has no discernible farms. In fact it appears to be only made of rock and a possibly extinct volcano, and no vegetation appears at all. The island is almost always dark and sullen, and appears to have seen very little sunlight.
